What Eureka does to a car
Salt air off Humboldt Bay settles on everything parked outside overnight. Add winter rain from November to March, the grit that comes off Broadway and 101 in a storm, and the sap and pollen that fall off every redwood and pine from Sequoia Park to the Old Town waterfront. A car in Eureka is never dirty in a dramatic way. It is dirty in a slow, filmy way that dulls the paint if nobody deals with it.
That film is exactly what a hand pre-scrub is for. Before a car enters the tunnel, a crew member works the road film, the bugs, and the wheels by hand. The soft-cloth tunnel then washes clean paint instead of grinding grit across it, and the hand dry at the exit catches the drips a blower leaves behind.
Exterior washes, the Quick Clean Out, and the bays
There are three ways to wash a car here. The automatic side runs three exterior packages, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, from $15. The full-service side does the $65 Quick Clean Out, an inside-and-out clean in about twenty minutes with the Platinum Wash included. The self-serve bays and vacuums are open 24 hours for the truck bed, the muddy dog, or the wash at 6 a.m. before work.
- Exterior packages, pre-scrubbed and hand dried
- The $65 Quick Clean Out, inside and out, no reservation
- Self-serve bays and vacuums, 24 hours
- Covered chairs, so a rainy day is a fine day to do the inside
Where it is
1441 Broadway is on the west side of Eureka, on the main road through town. Coming from Old Town or Henderson Center, head down Broadway toward the south end. Coming up 101 from Fortuna, it is on the right after you come into town. The lot is easy to pull into and easy to leave from, which matters more than it sounds on Broadway.
